3 Reasons to Eat Organic Fruits & Vegetables

Organic foods are free from chemicals and fertilisers. Produce sprayed with chemicals can have tremendous impact on your body. It affects your nervous system, can cause cancer and leads to many more problems.

Introduction

Is Organic a fad or is it beneficial? Organic has been proven to be an essential step towards living a healthier life. Yet, only 20% of people eat organic produce. So, is it an important change to make in your diet, or is it a marketing stunt to charge higher prices? In this blog, I will outline the main reasons why I believe eating organic is essential and why it’s something our planet, our communities and our society would benefit from.

Health

Organic foods are free from chemicals and fertilisers. Produce sprayed with chemicals can have tremendous impact on your body. It affects your nervous system, can cause cancer and leads to many more problems. Not only is conventional produce sprayed, but it’s grown in soil with toxic heavy metals. Fruits and vegetables soak up these metals and this is what you can end up eating .Organic food has a much higher nutritional content than conventional produce and is free from chemicals and heavy metals. Also, you won’t be eating GMO’s foods. GMO has been shown to cause issues in the body and is still widely un-researched. Nothing beats a vegetable grown in natural soil like it has been for the past thousands of years.

Environment

We are currently in the midst of a soil crisis, an apple from 100 years was 10 times more nutritious than today. This is due to our soils being overcropped leading to nutrient dead soil. Organic food is only grown in soil with a certain nutritional density. Plus, farmers are always trying to improve soil quality to improve the quality of their products. Organic farming also respects the environment and leaves more time for the soil to regenerate. Organic farming is more supportive and friendly to wildlife. Many studies have shown the massive increase in bio-diversity (animals as well as plants) on organically farmed land. This is crucial today as our environment is destroyed.

Economy

Eating organic can help your local community and economy. You get fresher, local food that’s harvested sooner! This means less pollution from transport. The more we cut miles, the more we help mother nature.

One last reason…

It tastes better. It’s natures creation in its finest form.

Organic is more important than we all realise. And this is why we are proud the be the first organic and bespoke meal prep company in the UK.
